Before moving to the US, I’ve watched tons of movies and TV shows that are mostly set in New York, and had assumed that the entire country looks like that. When I applied to graduate schools, I paid little attention to where the school is because of that assumption. Thank goodness I ended up in Boston, where it’s not too far from my imagination.
